Safe Search & Homework Help for Kids, Parents, & Teachers
The need to protect children from inappropriate material online is very real. The Net is a powerful resource for lesson plans and homework help, but parents and teachers need to ensure that kids surf safely and do not inadvertently stumble across unwanted links to porn or hate sites. Fortunately, there are things you can do to protect your family and/or students. Use a search engine that offers a "safe search" feature or install one of the Net's many software filters. Alternatively, take advantage of the custom filtering controls built into Internet Explorer. Create a bookmark list for your kids' featuring some of the resources listed below. Create a custom user profile for your kids and configure your browser to use one of these sites as its start page.
